Juniata boys defense clamps down;tops Newport

The Juniata boys basketball team gets the weekend win Saturday against Newport in grand fashion, 55-24.

Alone, Juniata’s Bryson Clark outscored the entire Buffalo team, posting a game-high 25 points.

Teammate Devon Nealman chipped in with 11 while Jacob Condo rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10.

From the very beginning the Indians took control, outscoring Newport 12-5. Leading the way was Clark with five.

Things continued to stay in “Big Red’s” favor as its defense held Newport to 10 while Juniata finished with 16.

When the two teams went into the intermission, the Indians held a 28-15.

In the the third, the defense clamped down even harder, keeping the Buffaloes to just one point while allowing its offense to post 13.

Defensively, Juniata held Newport to just eight in the final stanza while it put the game away by scoring 14.
