MC girls XC competes at Mid – Penn Championship

The Mifflin County Cross Country Lady Huskies tackled the challenging Big Springs course at the Mid Penn Championships on Saturday, October 11. They placed 15th as a team against AAA teams.

Amilia Coffey and Ava Kratzer finished only one second apart to lead the way for the team. I loved seeing them push each other to finish strong. We always emphasize running as a pack as much as possible. Likewise, Maya Morgan and Caroline Palopoli finished in the same second, placing in the 4 and 5 position for the team. They make a great team because of their different running strategy regarding how they tackle a race. It was awesome to watch them push each other to a great finish!

Abby Anderson finished in the third position today and looked great after a great race last week in Gettysburg. On paper her time wasn’t what she wanted but due to the different and harder course today, I believe she can still celebrate progress in the right direction. I am excited to see what she can run at Districts as she focuses in on the close of the season in the next two weeks.

The next race for the Lady Huskies will be on Thursday, October 16against Williamsport and Juniata on their home course. That meet will also be their senior night to honor the 4 senior girls and 6 senior boys on the team.
