The Knights hold off late rally by Plumb’s for the victory

Knights hurler Amyen Carson has his pitches working Monday night against a very tough Plumbs team.

Carson struck out eight batters, allowing five hits and three earned runs.

He tossed an 81-pitch night going five full innings.

Cameron Lucas came in and sent down three-of-four in the final inning.

Offensively, the Knights were led by Joey Swentosky who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and 3RBIs.

Teammate Lucas went 2-for-4 with 3RBIs and 3 runs scored.

Carson went 2-for-2 with 2RBIs.

Also teammates Lincoln Dubin and Gavin Chalfa both finished with two hits each.

Madison Miller, Gavin Lucas and Henry St. Amant rounded out the Knight’s 14-hit evening.

Plumbs evening was highlighted by a monster 2-run home run by Felix Oquendo. Oquendo finished his afternoon with a 2-for-4 night with 3RBIs and a run scored.

Wyatt Hackett Carson Henry and Austin Hoover all posted a hit in the contest.

Starting off the game, the Knights opening up the scoring, posting three runs in the top of the first.

Lucas got the offense off and running with a single to left.

Joey Swentosky followed with a double that scored into the depths of right centerfield.

Carson helped his cause as he blasted a sacrifice fly into left, scoring Lucas as he tug up and made it safely home.

Chalfa walked to put runners on the corners.

Both scored later on a Plumb’s miscue, ending it as an early 3-0 contest.

Plumb’s battled back to cut the lead to just two.

Lead off hitter Oliver Thornburg walked. He moved over to second on a stolen base.

Henry singled to left, allowing Thornburg to move up to third.

Oquendo hustled our a single to second, allowing Thornburg to score.

The hits continued in the top of the second for the Knights. The group added two more runs.

Gavin Lucas opened with a single into left. He was followed with another single to left, this time it would be Lincoln Dubin.

Cameron Lucas scored Gavin Lucas as he bounced into a fielder’s choice.

Joey Swentosky blasted a hit an RBI single to center, upping the lead to a 5-1 advantage as the team’s went into the bottom of the inning.

Plumb’s made the most of two Knight’s miscues, as Logan Gibson and Thornburg would make the most of the moment.

When the team’s went into the third, the Knight’s were back at this time extending the lead to 8-3 as they plated three more runs.

Plumb’s refused to go down without a fight as they were able to muscle out two runs on the bat of Oquendo. With two out, Houser singled to keep the inning alive, setting the stage for Oquendo.

Oquendo blasted a shot that easily cleared the centerfield fence, cutting the score to 8-5 going into the final stanza.

The Knights added four runs in the sixth while its defense kept the Plumb’s bats at bay, giving them a hard fought victory.
