The Knights Swentosky, Miller shine bright in win over Undines

The Knights’ Madison Miller highlighted a 9-run second inning, blasting a 2-run shot over the left centerfield fence helped her team defeat the Undines 10-0 Monday night in Bellefonte Little League action.

Knights’ pitcher Joey Swentosky was tough on the mound going 6 2/3 innings, allowing just five hits in the shut out. He also struck out nine.

Lincoln Dubin came into get the last out and faced only one batter.

He was also hot from the plate, going 3-for-5, hitting a triple and two singles and 2RBIs.

Picking up hits for the Knights Harry St. Ament, Gavin Lucas, Dubin, Cane Capparelle, Miller, Gavin Chalfa and Amyan Carson.

Offensively, the Undines were led by Parker VonGunden who went 3-for-3.

Others picking up hits were Levi Hamilton and Brayden Miller.

The Undines has only one bad inning but were able to keep the Knights scoreless from there until the sixth.

After both teams posted a scoreless first inning, the Knights heated up hotter than the 90 degree temperatures they were playing in.

Capparelle reached on an Undines miscue.

Dubin followed with a walk.

Gavin Lucas also walked to load the bases. Dubin stole home to take the lead.

St. Amant continued the rally with a walk.

Cameron Lucas blasted a triple, clearing the bases and making it a 4-0 contest.

Swentosky followed with a triple to score Lucas.

Swentosky’s trip on the base paths was a short one when Chalfa doubled him in.

Miller stepped up to the plate a blasted a 2-run shot that easily cleared the fence and hit the top of a push up tent, bringing in both.

That would be the final runs of the inning.

From there Swentosky and his defense took over as he scattered hits here and there but the “Yellow and Black” held solidly to maintain the shut out.

The Undines defense was just as tough the rest of the way, keeping the game from ending and playing with pride.

In the sixth, the Knights would manufacture one more run before taking the contest 10-0.
