Juniata boys open season in convincing style over West Perry

The Juniata boys basketball team got its season going in the right direction opening up with a convincing 42-34 win over West Perry.

Jasper Shepps lit up the scoreboard, finishing with a 20-point night, posting five triples in the process.

Wyatt Stoner followed up with a 9-point night while teammate Ebel Gonzalez notched eight.

West Perry got 15-points from Si Twigg and 14 from Duce Middleton.

The Mustangs started out with the early lead, outscoring the Indians 17-13 after one.

But Juniata would shut down the West Perry offense in the second, allowing just three.

The Indians would pick up seven and head into the intermission tied at 20.

Coming out of the break, the Juniata defense continued to shine, allowing just five from West Perry in the period.

Juniata’s offense opened with nine, giving Big Red a lead going into the final stanza.

With the lead, the Indians put its best offensive performance together, posting 13 to clinch the victory.
