Reed: PSU Blue / White game won Team White

UNIVERSITY PARK – The Penn State Nittany Lions Clashed at the annual Blue and White game.

The redshirt freshman Ryan Barker was tasked with the opening kick off duties to start the game.

The opening play of the first possession started with a pre snap penalty resulting in a fall start penalty.

The first play started with a pass from Drew Allar to Joey Schlaffer for the blue team ending in negative yardage.

The first points didn’t come until the second quarter Quinton Martin Jr took it in for a score for nine yards with 9:49 remaining in the half. Barker kicked the extra point to make a 7-0 lead.

Penn State quarterback Allar looked good today during the spring game. Ethan Grunkenmeyer entered the game connecting on a pass to Josiah Brown twice on back to back plays.

Grunkenmeyer would attempt to make it three straight completions but the pass would fall incomplete resulting in a turnover on downs.

Allar would drive down the field on passes to Omari Evans and Kaden Saunders the drive would end on a field goal from Barker to extend the white team’s lead over the blue at the half 10-0. The white team would score 17 more points in the game Sander Sahaydak would add on the the lead kicking a field goal with 11:58 to go in the fourth quarter. Later in the fourth quarter, Martin Jr would find the end zone for the second time making it a 19-0 lead. Chase Meyer connected on the extra point to pull away 20-0.

Tony Rojas found himself in the tackle column while Kolin Dinkins had a good game in the tackle department as well. The talent was on display today for the fans that haven’t seen these players play before. Cam Wallace had a few carries in the scrimmage game.

Team White put the icing on the cake thanks to a late touchdown with 28 seconds remaining. The second year starter Allar found tight end  Andrew Rappleyea to extend the lead to 27-0 with the extra point attempt being a success Team White earns the win over team blue shutting out team blue 27-0.
