Gaisior lights up Newport batters in no hit win for Juniata

Back on track!

A day after being upset by a very tough Susquenita squad, the Juniata softball team was back on the diamond to play Newport.

Not only did the Lady Indians pick up the win but Juniata pitcher Liz Gaisior was unhittable, she finished with a no-hitter with 20 strike outs.

The result was a 7-0 victory over the Buffaloes.

Lexi Frontz, Regan Lowrey and Alexa Kuhn all posted two hits on the afternoon.

In the third inning Juniata got on the board posting three runs.

Lowrey singled into center to start things off.

Frontz moved Lowrey up a base as she roped a shot into left.

Gaisior helped her own cause posting a single and moved up on a Newport miscue, scoring Lowrey on the play. Frontz moved up to third.

Juniata scored again on a double steal. Frontz scored stealing home while Gaisior made it safely to third.

Gaisior took advantage of a passed ball to put her team up 3-0.

Kuhns got her team’s offense going again in the bottom of the fifth. She sent a screamer into left.

Lowrey put down a sacrifice bunt to move Kuhns up to second and in scoring position.

Again, the Indians would take advantage of a Newport error. Frontz  smacked a ball to center. Kuhns scored on the center fielders error.

Savannah Marshall double moved Frontz into scoring position, sitting at third.

Sophia Smith brought in both teammates minutes later on a 2RBI single, upping the Indians’ lead to 6-0.

The Lady Indians added an insurance run in the sixth en route to the victory.
