State College Minors Storm Back To Defeat Nittany Valley 10U All-Stars

State College trailed by as many as six, but came back to top Nittany Valley 10U All-Stars on Monday, 9-8.

Nittany Valley jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Sydney S grounded out, scoring one run, Trinity K singled, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored one run.

Nittany Valley added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Sydney tripled, scoring two runs, and Riley S singled, scoring one run.

A double by Addy B extended the Nittany Valley lead to 8-2 in the top of the third inning.

The Little Lions flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring seven runs on three hits to take a 9-8 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Violet D that drove in two.

Caroline F led things off in the circle for State Collegr. The righty allowed 11 hits and eight runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out seven and walking two. Riley started the game for Nittany Valley. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and eight runs (six earned) over two innings, striking out five and walking seven.

Capri L and Violet were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for State. Violet went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead State College in hits. Drew T led the Lady Lions with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Capri stole two bases. State College ran wild on the base paths, collecting six stolen bases for the game.

Nittany Valley accumulated 11 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Grayson B led Nittany Valley with three hits in three at bats. Sydney went 1-for-3 at the plate as the right-handed hitter led the team with three runs batted in. Makenzie K and Riley each collected multiple hits for Nittany Valley.
