Kish wins two out of the three games of the day

MCVEYTOWN – Despite a tough defensive battle, Kish made their chances count as the Indians defeated the Eagles 14-0 in a CKFL Peewee football game Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first quarter, McVeytown was looking to get a first down on their side of the field with it being fourth and short. But the Kish defense stepped up in a big way and forced a turnover on downs. And the Indians were able to take advantage as they muscled their way down the field before eventually getting a three yard touchdown run from Julian Attiery to put them up 6-0.
From there onward it became a defensive slugfest between the two teams as neither McVeytown nor Kish allowed each others’ respective offenses any room to breath.
Leading the charge for the McVeytown defense were Cole Laughlin, Lincoln Knable, Cael Carter and Matthew Hartsock.
However, the Indians were able to find the endzone again late in the fourth quarter as Duke Peachey blasted through the defensive line and hustled his way to score. Peachey came back again and scored a two point conversation after completing a pass to Jase Atherton to make it a 14-0 lead for Kish.
But the Eagles were continuing to battle and were moving the ball up the field with some quick tempo. However, the Kish defense scored an interception by Jasper Snook which helped put the game on ice.
Meanwhile earlier in the day, Kish also scored a victory over McVeytown by the score of 8-6 in what was also a big defensive battle.
The McVeytown Mighty Mights will look to bounce back on this coming Sunday as the Eagles will host to the Terrance Tigers at noon. For the McVeytown Peewees, the Eagles will host the Derry-Decatur Cyclones Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m.
The Kish Peewees will hit the road on Tuesday as Kish will play against Juniata with start time of 5:30 p.m. Meanwhile the Mighty Might team will host the Burnham Bulldogs on Sunday at noon.
