McVeytown remains unbeaten in win against Kish

MCVEYTOWN – McVeytown was able to avoid the three game sweep thanks to their 35-12 victory over the Kish Indians during a CKFL Midget football game Sunday afternoon.
It took a little while for both teams to get going during the first quarter of the game. But the Eagles were able to catch a break with a fumble which was recovered by Blake Specht. McVeytown then capitalized on the turnover with a seven yard touchdown run by Rocky Johnson. Colt Bratton then connected with Treyson Yohn for the two point conversion making it an 8-0 lead.
Then in the second quarter, Specht found himself into the endzone going three yards and also scored the extra point to extend the McVeytown lead to 15-0.
The last score of the first half came from Bentley Flemlee who went 43 yards into the endzone for the touchdown. The two point conversion failed leaving it 21-0 at the break.
But Kish wasn’t going away quietly as the Indians responded on the kickoff at the start of the third quarter as Clayton Fultz went 60 yards to score, cutting the lead to 21-6.
The Eagles’ defense came up big with a fumble recovery thanks to Specht which led to another big run from Felmlee who went 10 yards for the touchdown making it 27-6.
Once again though, the Indians responded with another kickoff return for the score. This time it was Brody Hower who went 65 yards for the score making it 27-12.
But the final score of the game came from Bratton who burst out through the middle and went 46 yards into the endzone. Yohn then scored on the two point conversion thanks to a pass from Brayden Hess making it 35-12.
Some of the highlights in the fourth quarter were an interception by Hess for the Eagles. While a fumble recovery was made by Nolan Harmon for the Indians.
McVeytown remains unbeaten will host the Terrance Tigers next Sunday at 3 p.m.
For Kish, they will host the Burnham Bulldogs at 3 p.m. as well.
