Philipsburg-Osceola Lady Mounties Storm Back To Defeat Central Cambria Red Devils

Despite trailing by as many as four runs, Philipsburg-Osceola Lady Mounties rallied to best Central Cambria Red Devils 9-6 on Friday.

Central Cambria got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Aubrey Ruddek doubled, scoring one run, and Rowyn Ruddek homered to center field, scoring three runs.

Philipsburg-Osceola flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 5-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a walk by Alivia Bizzarri that drove in two.

The Lady Mounties added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Ashlyn Havens laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Bizzarri singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Avery Biter homered to center field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the Red Devils.

Bizzarri earned the win for Philipsburg-Osceola. The starter gave up seven hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking four. Ruddek took the loss for Central Cambria. The starter went one and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs on four hits, striking out none and walking three.

The Lady Mounties collected 12 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Emily Gustkey led Philipsburg-Osceola with three hits in five at bats. Bizzarri and Havens each drove in two runs for the Lady Mounties. Morgan Vaughn and Maddyx Hampton each collected multiple hits for PO. Cameron Chverchko led the Lady Mounties with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying five walks for the game. Philipsburg-Osceola turned two double plays in the game.

Ruddek led Central Cambria with three runs batted in. The second baseman went 1-for-4 on the day. Camryn Matlin and Ruddek each collected two hits for the Red Devils.
