Update on Central Keystone weekend action

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – The postseason picture is quickly beginning to take shape as the season shifted to October in the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) as the league’s squads completed week six of action.

PEE WEES

Juniata 41 – Derry-Decatur 0

ALFARATA, Pa. – Easton Hostler and James Gehman each scored a pair of touchdowns and the defense did the rest as the Juniata Little Indians went on the road and picked up a 41-0 victory over Derry-Decatur on Sunday afternoon.

Hostler opened the scoring with a 14 yard touchdown and later added a nine-yard score to build a 13-0 Juniata lead.

Ryker Stahl got on the ledger with a one-yard touchdown run and Gehman threw the two-point conversion to send the Little Indians out to a 21-0 lead.

Gehman later scored on touchdown runs of 3 and 21 yards, before Dominic Lorenz scored a 32 yard touchdown to finish out the scoring.

Juniata returns to action on Sunday, October 12 when it hosts division-leading Kish for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with the Indians. Derry-Decatur returns to the gridiron on Sunday, October 12 when it hosts Terrace. Kickoff against the Tigers is set for 1:00 p.m.

Kish 28 – McVeytown 6

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Kish ran out to a 22-0 halftime lead and never looked back as the division-leading Indians took another step toward the regular season Pee Wee title behind a 28-6 victory over McVeytown.

The division-leading Indians scored 15 points in the first quarter and added a score in the second quarter while the defense shined to build a 22-0 lead at the intermission.

Knox Hartman tallied McVeytown’s only score of the game in the third quarter on a 53-yard touchdown run.

Kish is back in action on Sunday, October 12 when it travels to Juniata for a 1:00 p.m. showdown for regular season Pee Wee supremacy with the Little Indians. McVeytown will look to get back on track when it hosts Burnham on October 12 at 1:00 p.m.

MIDGETS

Terrace 25 – Burnham 0

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Terrace took a 19-0 lead into the locker room and added a third quarter score as the offense and defense were firing on all cylinders in a 25-0 victory on Sunday afternoon over the Burnham Bulldogs.

The victory for the Tigers was their third of the season and avenged an early-season, 12-0 defeat to earn the season split with the Bulldogs.

Isaac Torres connected with Reece Hagerty on a 30-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring and build a 7-0 Terrace lead after a quarter of play.

Owen Deans added to the Tigers lead with a 30-yard touchdown pass to Jeremiah Karshner. Torres added a score on the ground in the form of a 23-yard rushing touchdown to send the Tigers to the intermission with a 19-0 lead.

Terrace’s defense got in on the scoring in the third quarter for the game’s final tally. Isaac Torres scooped up a forced fumble and returned it 79 yards for a touchdown to wrap up a 25-0 Terrace win.

The Tigers return to action on Thursday, October 9 when they host unbeaten Kish-North. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. Burnham will look to get back on track on Sunday, October 12 when it travels to McVeytown for a 3:00 p.m. affair with the Eagles.

Derry-Decatur 34 – Juniata 12

ALFARATA, Pa. – Derry-Decatur ran out to a 20-6 halftime lead and added a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns as the Cyclones reigned supreme over the visiting Juniata Little Indians by a 34-12 tally on Sunday afternoon.

Derry-Decatur owned a 6-0 lead after a quarter of play and added a pair of second quarter scores to build a 20-6 lead at the intermission.

Juniata cut the Cyclones lead to a single score in the third quarter with the frame’s only score as Derry-Decatur clung to a 20-12 lead with a quarter of action to play.

Derry-Decatur added two scores in the fourth quarter to pick up its second win of the year by a 34-12 tally.

The Cyclones are back in action on Sunday, October 12 when they travel to Terrace for a 3:00 p.m. affair with the Tigers. Juniata will look to get back on track when it hosts Kish-South on October 12 for a 3:00 p.m. showdown with the Indians.

McVeytown 38 – Kish-South 0

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Canyan Brown and Alex Weaver rushed for two scores each and the McVeytown defense was sensational yet again as the Eagles rolled to a 38-0 victory on Sunday afternoon over the Kish-South Indians.

The win was the sixth of the season for McVeytown and moves the Eagles to a two-game advantage over third-place Juniata in the Midget standings.

McVeytown opened the scoring early in the first quarter when Weaver scampered 45 yards to the endzone for a 6-0 Eagles lead.

Calvin Napikoski added a score with 47 ticks to play in the first quarter and Cole Laughlin powered in the extra point attempt to send the Eagles to the second quarter with a 13-0 advantage.

Weaver’s stellar afternoon continued when he stormed into the endzone on a 15-yard carry to extend the McVeytown lead to 19-0. Brown added the extra point for a 20-0 Eagles halftime lead.

Brown was just getting started with his first-half, extra-point conversion. The youngster sprinted 35 yards to the endzone with 6:55 to play in the third to build a 26-0 McVeytown lead.

With 4:55 to play, Brown stormed in to the endzone on a 10-yard run for a 32-0 Eagles lead before Dean Armstrong scored on a 35-yard touchdown run to round out the scoring and hand McVeytown a 38-0 victory.

Defensively, the Eagles were led by a fumble recovery each from the efforts of Owen Fultz and Cael Conner.

Easton Trutt led the Kish defense with nine tackles, while Knox Wagner chipped in six stops in the loss.

McVeytown returns to action on Sunday, October 12 when it hosts Burnham for a 3:00 p.m. kick. Kish-South is back in action on Sunday, October 12 when it travels to Port Royal for a 3:00 p.m. affair with Juniata.
