Yoder: Burnham Defeats McVeytown in OT

By Joshua Yoder
MCVEYTOWN – Regulation was not enough for both the Burnham Bulldogs and the McVeytown Eagles as the game went into overtime where it was ultimately the Bulldogs who were victorious by the final score of 6-0 during a CKYFCL Peewee football game on Sunday.
As mentioned earlier, neither team managed to get the ball into the endzone through all four quarters of the game.
The main reason for that was the incredible defensive display by both McVeytown and Burnham.
Some of the key highlights throughout were some tackles for a loss by Trayson Wray and other big time plays came from Kryson Miller and a fumble recovery by Juan Rivera for Burnham.
On the McVeytown side of things, the Eagles were led by the efforts of Stetson Bordell, Layton Yoder, Triton Moist, Knox Hartman and Clayton Fisher.
The Eagles got the ball first in overtime, but much like the whole game at that point, defense made an impact as Burnham made the stop.
Then the Bulldogs got behind running back Rivera who broke through the McVeytown defense and went 14 yards for the game winning touchdown.
Burnham hits the road to play Kish on Sunday while the Eagles will host Derry Decatur also on Sunday.
Good luck to both teams!
Until Next Time!
