Adeline Leason punched her ticket to the Cross Country State Championships by running
a 20:11 in the District 6 Championships in Reedsville. State College won the team competition securing a spot for their Varsity team at States. In addition to the team, the first 5 girls that cross the finish line are able to secure their spot. Adeline came across the line in fourth place.

Adeline went to states her freshman year of high school when she was part of the Selinsgrove team. She has gotten stronger throughout the season, and I knew she had a good chance as to qualify again. She has worked hard throughout the season. The State Championship is on Saturday, November 5 in Hershey and will feature the best runners in the state. We will focus on additional physical training this coming week as well as focusing on building mental strength. She deserves to be there, and I want to be sure she believes that!

Addie Parson came up just short of making states for a third time, coming across as the 6th runner in the individual competition at 20:24. It is heartbreaking to be that close and miss it. I cried for her and with her. Regardless of the outcome, I was proud of her for going out and putting forth a strong effort during the race.

Amilia Coffey set another significant PR and was in contention for state qualification as well, running a 20:42. There were other years that time would have been good enough for States, but not this year. There were a lot of fast girls on the course. Amilia is a freshman, is strong, determined, and talented. She will have a bright future.

Finishing out the girls varsity race was Ava Harris (22:21), Justice Sheaffer (22:28), Ava Wagner (24:03), and Kennadi Bauman (24:21). Our “back half” of the girls helped MC take a third place team finish behind State College and Altoona. To witness their continued improvement throughout the season was inspiring.

The unseeded race (JV) featured more strong performances by the remaining girls on the team. Ava Kratzer led the way at 23:42 finishing with her second best time of the season. Overall, 10 of the 14 MC girls ran their season bests. We train all season for that kind of ending, and it was rewarding to see the results today.
