Bald Eagle Area Eagles Lose To Westmont Hilltop

The Bald Eagle Area Eagles lost to Westmont Hilltop 5-4 on Friday.
Bald Eagle opened the scoring in the second after Luke Hosband singled, scoring one run.
Westmont Hilltop took the lead in the top of the third. Bryce Goodman singled, scoring two runs, to give Westmont Hilltop the upper hand, 2-1.
Brayden Dubbs doubled to center field, which helped the Eagles tie the game at two in the bottom of the fifth.
In the top of the sixth, Westmont Hilltop broke up the tie when Brady Gartner singled, scoring one run. Then a single by Connor Sweeney followed to extend the lead to 5-2.
The Eagles scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run to center field by Wyatt Spackman.
Justin Ray earned the win for the Hilltoppers. The pitcher gave up eight hits and four runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking two. Wyatt Kowalczyk took the loss for Bald Eagle. The hurler went five and two-thirds innings, surrendering five runs on nine hits, striking out two and walking one. Natallo Rocco earned the save.
The Eagles collected nine hits in the game. Hosband, Bald Eagle’s number nine hitter, led the team with three hits in three at-bats.
Westmont Hilltop amassed 10 hits in the game. Anthony Oakley and Sweeney each collected two hits for the Hilltoppers. Goodman and Sweeney each drove in two runs for Westmont Hilltop. Sweeney stole two bases.
Next up for Bald Eagle is a game at Central on Tuesday.
