Bald Eagle Area girls victorious in opener against Tyrone

Opening the season with a “Bang!”

The Bald Eagle Area’s girls soccer team opened its season in style, defeating Tyrone 4-2.

Bald Eagle outshot the Golden Eagles 14-11

In the save department, Lady Eagles goalie Makayla Spicer finished with nine while Tyrone’s keeper Piper Sparklin finished with 10.

Bald Eagle blanked the Golden Eagles in corner attempts 6-0.

“I thought we came out strong and Addisyn found Sybil twice early on with beautiful passes and Sybil finished them. Sybil scoring in the first 30 seconds was really neat to see,” said Bald Eagle coach Jared Moore. “Addisyn had a great great today. She created 5 or 6 scoring opportunities and was solid in the midfield. Tyrone worked the ball well on us from there, and capitalized on some mistakes, and were able to tie it up at half.

In the first, Bald Eagle’s Sybil Thompson scored thanks to an assist by Addisyn Burns at :30.

Bald Eagle Area’s made it a two-goal lead when Thompson (once again found the back of the net off of an assist by Addisyn Burns at 9:22.

Tyrone battled back and knotted the score at two as the two teams went into the intermission.

“We made some adjustments at halftime which worked well in the second half and kept up a steady stream of pressure on their back line until we got a handball call in the box and Adrienne finished a nice PK,” said Moore. “Sybil chipped the keeper to finish off her hat trick. There are definitely some things we can work to improve on, but overall it was a nice first game and win of the season.”

In the second half, the Lady Eagle’s Adrienne Hacker plastered a shot past the Tyrone goalie via a penalty kick at 71:40.

Bald Eagle added an insurance goal as Sybil Thompson thanks to an assist by Lily Spicer, put the game 4-2 at 78:04.

BEA impoves to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in LHAC.

The Eagles next game is Wednesday vs Philipsburg.
