Bald Eagle girls come up big against Tyrone, winning in 2OTs

It took two overtimes, but the Bald Eagle Area girls battled to escape the winners of a 3-2 victory over Tyrone.

The Golden Eagles outshot the Eagles 11-9 while Bald Eagle held the advantage in shots on goal by a 7-2 margin.

“The girls came out a little flat in the first half. They got one on us early and we were able to answer to keep it tied at the half,” said East Juniata Coach Jared Moore. “They put us on our heels again with another kick goal, but i give the girls a lot of credit. They never quit fighting and they pushed themselves. They found another gear in the 2nd half to tie it up. Falen McHenry finished her hat trick tonight with a great finish in the 2nd overtime period to give us the win. Everyone stepped up. We won 50-50 balls and challenges and were able to break through when we needed it.”

Goalie Angelina Grieb kept her team alive in the contest collecting nine saves.

Bald Eagle got crucial goals from Falen McHenry. McHenry tallied the hat trick and the game winner. The first goal was an assist from a Maura Cingle off a free kick.  McHenry then posted a unassisted goal.

In the game winner, McHenry picked up a pass from Grace Wagner and sent it home one minute into the 2nd overtime for the “W”.
