Bald Eagle girls tie Huntingdon in soccer action

Tuesday afternoon the Bald Eagle girls soccer team went up against Huntingdon.

Both defenses were on high alert as neither could score more than one goal in the contest, finishing it in a 1-1 tie.

Huntingdon posted the first goal of the game.

After a scoreless first half, the Bearcats’ Jordyn Patrick 51:43 posted an unassisted goal to take the lead.

As time was winding off the clock, the Lady Eagles were able to keep the game alive with its first and only goal.

Picking up the lone goal for the Sarah Holler as she picked up a pass from Falen McHenry at 87:19.

“What an even hard fought game. Both sides played great defense. Huntingdon is a great team and I feel very proud of the girls’ hustle and resolve,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jarod Moore. “They were down a goal and never quit. We preach crashing the net and it paid off tonight. Falen McHenry put a free kick right on the money and Sarah Holler put it right in the net. This group never gives up. Even with less than 3 minutes left in the game the girls never stopped giving it all they’ve got. This group has great character.”

Huntingdon held the advantage in corners by a 6-4 margin and in shots by a 9-8 advantage.

Bald Eagle goalie Angelina Grieb collected eight saves while the Bearcats’ Simone Bilich finished with seven.

With the tie, BEA is now at 3-2-1 Overall and 2-2-1 in the Mountain League.

In JV action, Bald Eagle won 1-0.

Picking up the goal was Claudia Irvin  off an assist from Nadya Kronin.

The Bald Eagle JV record improved to 2-0-2.

The Eagles next game will be Thursday vs Bellefonte, on senior night.
