Bald Eagle shuts out Central in rain abbreviated contest

Another strong outing leads to a Bald Eagle victory.

The Lady Eagles girls soccer team continues to mow down its competition.

This time Mother Nature would condense the game.

The game was called due to lightning and incoming storms about eight minutes into the 2nd half. Both teams waited an hour or so and the referee called it.

Wednesday it would be Central’s turn as they were shut out by a 2-0.

Bald Eagle’s Falen McHenry scores off a Zoey McHenry pass at 41:20.

Grace Wagner from an assist from Sarah Holler hit the insurance goal at 46:40.

“We beat ourselves in the first half. We had plenty of chances and couldn’t convert, but they came out on fire in the second half. Once again Zoey McHenry was our spark. She stole the ball and chipped the line for Falen and she buried it in the back of the net,” said Bald Eagle Coach Jared Moore. “ I love to see players step up in big moments and Zoey didn’t disappoint. Then Sarah Holler took a perfect corner kick and Grace Wagner finished it beautifully. The defense was solid as well giving very little ground. Overall great win for us.”

Bald Eagle led in shots on goal by a 10-2 margin.

The Eagles goalie Rachel Veneziano  had two saves.

Bald Eagle improves to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the Mountain League.

Next Game: BEA @ Moshannon Valley 9/14
