WINGATE – Two teams both heading upwards as the season winds down met up on the volleyball court Tuesday when Bellefonte traveled to play rival Bald Eagle Area.

The experienced Lady Eagles are riding a winning streak as of late while the upstart Lady Raiders are looking to battle for a playoff berth at 7-7.

It was a night of a lot of back-and -forth action but in the end, the Lady Eagles were too much for Bellefonte.

Bald Eagle won in three sets (25-19, 25-12, 25-19).

“Bellefonte’s improving. She (Monica Smith) is doing a nice job over there. Their big and aggressive,” said Bald Eagle coach Lawrence Campbell. “We were able to put them in some bad situations that they made a lot of unforced errors. We’re improving. We kind of jumped out quick and the game was over. And in set three we had a pretty big lead and kept it rolling.”

The Lady Raiders got four service points from Alexia Meshock.

“They are always going to play Bald Eagle strong. They’ve been a powerhouse in our league for many years and they really get pumped for that,” said Bellefonte coach Smith. “I thought they played pretty well. They never gave up and I thought we put together a decent game.”

Kristen Onder pounded out four consecutive service points of her own, taking a 5-4 lead.
