Baublitz breaks own record; Juniata competes at Lehigh

Juniata’s Garrett Baublitz broke his own school record again this past weekend at the Leigh University Paul Short Cross Country Invitational.  Garrett placed 3rd in the Brown race with a time of 15:21.4.  Clay Yeager broke 17:00 for the first time running 16:46.8 for 86st place. Coach Jeff Miller said “I was impressed with the way the boys ran today.  Almost all the boys had personal best today.”  Other Juniata runners competing were:
James Hazard – 182nd – 17:40.4 – PR
Brody Powell – 286st – 18:51.6 – PR
Micah Fausey – 300th – 19:14.4 – PR
Will Tyson – 313th – 19:48.1 – PR
Isaak Fausey – 315th – 19:52.5
Tim Kelly – 320th – 20:58.1 – PR
Kaleb Louder – 322nd – 27:15.2
All 5 girls on the Juniata cross country team ran to personal best.  Sydney Houtz ran to a 46st place in the girls white race with a time of 20:35.6. She was followed by Emily Houtz with a time of 21:23.2 for 101st place.  Coach Jeff Miller said “The girls took advantage of the perfect racing conditions to drop a lot of time off of their personal best.  Today Julia Burns shaved over 2 minutes off of her personal best.”  Since the start of the Juniata girl’s cross country program three years ago, Sydney Houtz now has the fastest time to date.  Other Indian runners were:
Julia Burns – 330th – 28:03.7
Katie Hart – 333rd – 29:33.3
Joceline Telfer – 337th – 32:07.8
Juniata will compete Wednesday, October 9 at the Tri-Valley League meet at Susquenita.
