BEA girls improves to 2-0 with win over PO

WINGATE – A scoring barrage!
The Bald Eagle Area’s girls soccer team hit the back of the net early and often in their Wednesday contest versus visiting Philipsburg-Osceola.
Offensively, the Lady Eagles attacked the back-third of the Mounties all evening posting an 8-1 Laurel Highlands victory.
“The girls came out really strong tonight. Sybil Thompson had a heck of a night. She was really working hard and finding a lot of open looks at goal and it paid off,” said Bald Eagle Area’s coach Jared Moore. “Makenzie Bickle was also in good form feeding the ball all over the field tonight and picking up a couple of assists and a goal herself.”
Bald Eagle posted 27 shots on goal while Philipsburg-Osceola tallied only three.
In Corners, Bald Eagle led 4-1.
The Lady Eagles’ goalie Makayla Spicer finished with two saves.
Sybil Thompson finished with a 5-goal evening.
Thompson started her night with the opening goal. Thompson picked up a pass from Makenzie Bickle and blasted the goal at 3:02.
After a short defensive stand by both teams, Thompson lit it up again thanks to an assist by Lydia Walk at 19:08
With only 19:28 taken off the clock Thompson notched the hat trick thanks to a pass from Alexa Thomas.
PO picked up its lone goal on a BEA Own Goal at 29:27.
In the second half, Thompson scored once again off an Adrienne Hacker hook up at 48:49.
Heidi Eveleth put her name into the scorebook as she collected a pass from Thompson seconds later at 49:28.
Thompson was at it once again less than 10 minutes later as Makenzie Bickle found her open for a goal at 56:22.
Lydia Walk added to the scoring off an Abby Hacker pass at 66:12.
Makenzie Bickle’s unassisted goal at 70:12 ended the game scoring giving the Eagles the victory.
“They connected well tonight with each other and with the midfield,” said Moore. “The defense was strong tonight, limiting Philipsburg’s chances. It was a great team win. “
With the win, the Lady Eagles improve to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in LHAC action.
In the JV contest, Bald Eagle posted seven goals in their battle against Philipsburg-Osceola winning 7-0.
Addison Tice notched a 4-goal game while teammate Bridget Dechow finished with two en route to the Eagles’ victory.
Bald Eagle got started on an Addison Tice goal from a pass from Lilly Johnson just 46 ticks into the game.
Bekah Barndt made it a two-goal advantage as she collected a pass from Jordan Williams at 3:23.
Dechow hit her first goal at 5:02 thanks to an assist from Bekah Barndt.
Addison Tice followed with her second goal, this time it was an unassisted one.
Again, Tice got her name into the scoring column on a Barndt assist at 14:17.
Tice finished her scoring at 15:30 thanks to a Barndt assist.
Dechow rounded out the scoring with an unassisted goal at 16:50.
BEA goalie Emily Steffan finished with two saves
