BEA makes history; Breaks consecutive ML win streak with 80th win

One for the record books!

Thursday night, the Bald Eagle Area girls volleyball team stood on the threshold of history as it needed just one win to break the Mountain League consecutive game streak.

The record now belongs to Bald Eagle head coach Larry Campbell and company with the win.
Playing against a rejuvenated Bellefonte squad under the leadership of first year coach Monica Smith, the quest was not going to be an easy one.

But it was mission accomplished as the Lady Eagles battled to defeat the Red Raiders in three close sets, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-23.

Madison Perry finished with 10 digs and 10 kills in the victory.

Teammate Lexi Scripek was also a force to be reckoned with Thursday collecting 28 digs and one assist.

Madison Eckley posted a strong all around performance finishing with 34 assists, four kills and six digs.

With the win, the Eagles consecutive streak increases to 80-straight wins.

The mark breaks Pennsylvania Coaches Association Hall of Famer Huntingdon’s Priscilla Gibbony.

“Very tough fought match! We celebrated our seniors tonight and our senior middle lead us in serving with 3 aces,” Bellefonte coach Smith said. “Senior Libero Lily Gardner had 9 digs and Senior Outside Alexia Mishock had 13 digs and 3 kills.”

Setter Madison Melius had 12 assists and 12 digs

Bellefonte freshman Carlee Pepperman led the offense with seven kills and added 11 digs.
