Bellefonte 11Us take marathon victory over Four Leaf

The bats came out in full force Monday night as the Bellefonte 11U All-Stars and Four Leaf team combined for a combined 31 runs.

When the dust settled, it would be Bellefonte that would raise their hands in victory, winning 17-15 at Webster Field.

Bellefonte lead off hitter Grady Krout went a perfect 5-for-5 on the night to lead the offense.

Bellefonte got the scoring started, plating a run in the first inning.

Krout led off with a single and later scored on a double by Andrew Gall.

Defensively, Bellefonte held the Four Leaf bats in check.

In the second inning, Bellefonte rallied again to score two in the second.

It would be the “Hoover Connection” that would lead the Red Raiders when Will and Harrison Hoover scored after reaching base, taking a 3-0 advantage.

Four Leaf got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning, cutting the Bellefonte advantage to 3-1.

After keeping Bellefonte scoreless in the third, Four Leaf jumped ahead 6-3, thanks to a 5-run inning.

But Bellefonte wouldn’t stay behind for long as it jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth, thanks to a 4-run stanza, taking a 7-6 lead.

Scoring in the inning were Brayden Ripka, Krout, Gall and pinch runner Ben Ranio.

Ranio scored on a double by Austin Houser. Houser was injured and was called out after Ranio crossed the plate, putting his team ahead by a run.

But Four Leaf wouldn’t let the Red Raiders keep the lead for long as they retaliated with a run in the bottom of the inning.

With the game tied at seven going into the fifth, Bellefonte again was able to get runners on base and make the most of it.

Hoover and Hoover once again plated runs to put their team back in the lead once again, 9-7.

Bellefonte made the most of their at bats in the sixth, adding on to their lead, scoring eight more in the inning, giving them a 17-7 advantage.

They would need all those runs as Four Leaf plated eight of their own before the Bellefonte defense shut them down, taking the hard fought 2-run victory.
