Bellefonte boys move on

WINGATE- For almost the entire game Wednesday, the Bellefonte boys soccer team and Huntingdon boys went toe-to-toe with each other with the winner advancing to the District 6 title match against Holidaysburg.
However, the Red Raiders broke the scoreless tie at the 19:57 mark of the game with a score from Evan Nyquist that gave his team the lead and eventually the win.
In the first half, Huntingdon started out the game with the first possession of the ball. In the process the Bearcats picked up the first corner of the game.
But the Bellefonte defense stood tall and got it to its offense.
The Red Raiders would test the Bearcats backline numerous time but to no avail as the Huntingdon defense would not crack and sent their opponents back down the field empty handed.
Time after time, the Bearcats has an answer for everything the Red Raiders threw at them.
Neither team was able to crack the other ones defensive end and when the halftime came, the two were still scoreless.
Bellefonte had the advantage at the half in shots on goal by a 7-3 and tied with Huntingdon in corner opportunities.
In the second half, the game belonged to the Bellefonte offense.
The Red Raiders continued where they left off in the first half.
After almost half the period gone, the Red Raiders got the score they needed when Nyquist tickled the twine and ended the scoreless tie.
Defensively, the Red Raiders seemed rejuvenated as they were able to keep the Bearcats at bay until the clock ran down to zero.
With the win, Bellefonte will battle Holidaysburg Wednesday night at Mansion Park in Altoona.

West Shamokin 1, Bald Eagle 0
WINGATE- The Bald Eagle Area boys soccer team dropped its District 6 game Monday against a very tough West Shamokin team 1-0.
