Bellefonte finishes just short for section title

HUNTINGDON – It was quite a run for both the Bellefonte and Huntingdon 11/12Us as the two met up for the Section 4 title and the right to move on.

Things seemed to be cruising right along for Bellefonte as it held a 1-0 advantage going into the fourth.

But the Bearcats battled back and plated five in the inning, never looking back as they took the contest 5-1.

Huntingdon pitcher Aston Steele pitched a strong outing, holding the Red Raiders to just one run and three hits on the night.

Taking the hard luck loss on the night was Trevor Johnson.

However, offensively Johnson hit a home run and a triple in a losing effort.

Bellefonte picked up the early advantage, scoring in the top of the first.

With one out, Johnson blasted a shot over the centerfield fence, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Later in the inning, Jake Corman plastered the ball and doubled.

However, he would be stranded and the Red Raiders would have to settle for just the one run.

For the first three innings, the Bellefonte defense shined, keeping Huntingdon at bay.

But things started to go down hill for Bellefonte in the fourth.

Pinch hitter Lincoln Miller walked.

Tyler Gutshall reaches on a Bellefonte miscue, putting runners on the first and second.

Eric Mykut loaded the bases with a bloop single into centerfield.

With one out, Gavin Woodward tied the game with an RBI walk.

Jack Foster continued the Huntingdon inning with a 2-run single, taking the lead for the first time at 3-1.

Teammate Briar Ronk followed on the second error of the inning.

Both later scored on a single by Anthony Patti.

When the dust settled, Huntingdon held the 5-1 advantage.

From there Steele took over, finishing with nine as he didn’t allow a hit the rest of the way.

For Bellefonte,  it was an incredible run that they took and brought along their fans with them as well as the finished as Section 4 runner ups.
