Bellefonte grapplers sweeps Huntingdon and Penns Valley at Tri-Meet

SPRING MILLS – The Bellefonte wrestling team continues its winning ways as it went undefeated at the Penns Valley Tri-Meet Thursday.

In the opener, the Red Raiders notched a 35-15 win over Huntingdon.

They would follow up their effort in the night cap, muscling out a 37-16 win versus host Penns Valley.

Starting at 120, Aiden O’Shea pinned Chase Fleshman, giving Bellefonte a 6-0 advantage.

There was some nail biting moments as Nathan Smith trailed 4-2 against the Rams’ Justin Darlington.

However, a third period reversal sent the contest into an overtime period.

After a scoreless overtime period, Smith would pick up a takedown and back points to win 8-4 in sudden victory.

Jude Swisher put the Red Raiders up 13-0 when he notched a major decision, winning in grand fashion 16-4.

Penns Valley got on the board at 138 as Nate Long topped Gage Long in a 7-6 win.

Dylan Dann put Bellefonte back on the winning side when he picked up a 9-2 victory, upping the Red Raider lead to 16-3.

Back came Penns Valley at 152. Dristen Wolfe shut out Andrew McChesney, 4-0.

At 160, Bellefonte stand out Ethan Richner got things back rolling for the Red Raiders.

Richer opened with a 5-0 advantage over Cole Felker and went into the 6-1 victory.

Malachi Duvall gave his team a boost, pinning Bellefonte’s Stephen Icivic at 170, cutting the Bellefonte lead to 19-12.

Ethan Rossman got his team a pin as he pinned Hunter Lyons in the first with 1:23 left.

Max Berrier added to the Red Raiders lead, picking up a forfeit win at 215.

Bellefonte heavyweight  Adam Shawley battled back from a third period deficit and picked up a pin with only eight ticks on the clock, making it a 37-12 advantage.

At 106, Holden Shunk rounded out the scoring for Penns Valley as he picked up a 12-1 victory over Garrett Choates.

Bellefonte’s 113-pounder Aaron McClosik finished the scoring, winning by forfeit.

Picking up wins in the Bearcats match were Garrett Choates (106), Aiden O’Shea (113), Nathan Smith (126), Jude Swisher (132), Gage Long (145), Andrew McCheney (152), Ethan Richner (160), Stephen Icivic (170) and Ethan Rossman (189).
