Bellefonte loses tough battle to Lady Wildcats, 45-40

Once again, the Bellefonte girls basketball team found itself in yet another nail biting contest, this time the Lady Raiders headed to Central Mountain.

The two teams were as close a close could be until the second half when the Wildcats would outscore the Raiders by three en route to the 45-40 home win.

“A great defensive effort by the team tonight,” said Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer. “Central Mountain made a lot of hard shots and made eight 3-pointers. We just have to trust and believe in ourselves and the results we are looking for will come.”

Leading the scoring for Bellefonte was Sara DeHaas with 13 while. Central Mountain got 17 from Quinnlynn McCann, 14 from Avery Baker and Kiahana Jones had 10.

With the loss, the Lady Raiders fall to 2-4.

Central Mountain took both the first and second quarters by 11-10, respectively.

At the half, the Wildcats held a slim 22-20.

In the third, the game was just as close as the two defenses clamped down as the Wildcats outscored the Red Raiders 8-7.

Bellefonte was never able to climb the hill and comeback, falling in a tough 45-40 victory.
