Bellefonte shuts out Tyrone; sets sights on rival BEA in Monday showdown

Quietly going about their business. Bellefonte’s softball team wins yet again in a businesslike fashion as it took care of Tyrone Friday night as the team honored its seniors before hand.

In the end, the Raiders went for the shut out win, posting the 5-0 shut out of Tyrone in the Mountain League contest.

Despite the game going the full seven innings, the contest was never in jeopardy especially with the Red Raiders ace hurler Lexi Rogers on the mound.

Rogers was once again her dominating self as she sent down 10 Golden Eagle batters down via the almighty strikeout. She also kept Tyrone off the base paths as she scattered just three hits on the afternoon.

Offensively, the Bellefonte bats churned out just seven hits.

Defensively, both teams finished with one error.

Rogers improved to 13-1 on the season and its team upped its win total to 14-1. She went the distance, allowing three hits, no runs, one walk and a double digit mark of 10 strike outs.

Tyrone pitcher Macee Lingenfelter took the loss despite going seven innings, allowing seven hits, five runs, four of which were earned. She also struck out two and walked one in the losing effort.

Top Hitters for the Raiders on the afternoon was Lily Gardner (2-2, HR, RBI), Lexi Rogers (2-2, RBI, 2B), Maddie Tice (1-3), Makenna Port (1-3, 2B), Addy Manning (1-2, HR, 2RBI).

Tyrone got offensively strong efforts by Maci Brodzina (1-3, 2B), Beth Pearson (1-3), Alison Beeman (1-3).

Monday, the Red Raiders will look to revenge their only loss this season in a rematch against rival Bald Eagle Area in a pivotal road contest.

It will also be a showdown against two of the Mountain League’s premier pitchers with Rogers going up against Maddie Peters.

It should be another one for the rivalry list between the two teams that sit high up in the Mountain League standings.
