Big! Bam! Boom! Bellefonte 11s offense explodes in Section opener

HUNTINGDON- There were no rust on the bats of the Bellefonte 11/12Us as they went into their opening District opener against Hershey Saturday night.

In the Red Raiders part of the first, Grayson Alterio and Jake Corman, blasted a 3-run and a 2-run home run respectively, en route to a 6-0 start.

In a game that last less than an hour, Bellefonte blasted four home runs en route to the 14-1 four inning contest.

Pacing the way in the home run department was Trevor Johnson who blasted a solo Home run and a grand slam.

The team hit a combined solo, 2-run, 3-run and grand slam in the victory.

Coming off the bench to make strong contributions for Bellefonte were Nash Irwin, Wyatt Flick, Ethan Tomasacci and Peyton Vancas.

In just three times at the plate in the contest, Bellefonte wrapped out 10 hits.

On the mound, Braedyn Kormanic picked up the victory as he allowed three hits and one run. The run cane on a solo home run by Nick Wetherhold.

Defensively, the Red Raiders were focused and unphased throughout, playing a very Workman like game.

Kormanic and company held Hershey at bay in the top of the first.

In the bottom, leadoff hitter Triston Heckman opened with a single.

Johnson was very patient in his fire at bat, walking to put two on board.

One swing from Alterio and Bellefonte had an early 3-0 advantage.

Kormanic helped his own cause and singled. He was replaced by pinch runner Tomasacci.

Corman joined the Home run club as he blasted a shot over the centerfield fence, upping it to 5-0.

Later in the inning, Bellefonte scored another run, taking a 6-0 lead into the second.

In the second, Wetherold put Hershey on the board with a solo shot, cutting it to 6-1.

Hershey would manage to get the bases loaded but the Bellefonte defense refused to allow any more damage in the inning.

Johnson led off the bottom of the inning with a solo shot of his own.

Alterio walked and scored later in the inning, upping things to 8-1.

Johnson’s grand slam put the game out of reach and over as Bellefonte plays tomorrow in the winners bracket portion against Indiana or Huntingdon back at Huntingdon.
