Big First Inning Leads Philipsburg-Osceola Lady Mounties Past Bishop Guilfoyle

The Philipsburg-Osceola Lady Mounties defeated Bishop Guilfoyle 15-0 on Monday thanks in part to nine runs in the first inning.  A passed ball scored one run, Morgan Vaughn singled, scoring one run, Adi Jarrett homered to center field, scoring three runs, Ashlyn Havens doubled, scoring two runs, Emily Gustkey doubled, scoring one run, and Cameron Chverchko singled, scoring one run.

The Lady Mounties added one run in the second. Macie Bush hit a sacrifice fly, making the score 10-0.

Philipsburg-Osceola scored five runs on one hit in the bottom of the third inning. Alivia Bizzarri drew a walk, scoring one run, Nat  Fleck drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and an error scored one run.

Bizzarri earned the win for the Lady Mounties. The pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking none. Leah Byrne took the loss for Bishop Guilfoyle. The starter went one inning, allowing nine runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking two.

Gustkey and Chverchko were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Philipsburg-Osceola while hitting back-to-back. Vaughn and Jarrett were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for the Lady Mounties. Philipsburg-Osceola Varsity were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Gustkey made the most plays with six.
