Big Valley 10s rally late and hold onto to defeat a spirited effort by Bellefonte

BELLEFONTE – In the battle of the undefeated, the Bellefonte 10Us played host to Big Valley in All-Star action.

Both teams rode the momentum as the two took turns taking the lead.

When the dust settled, the crew from Big Valley improved to 2-0 with a 9-7 comeback win Thursday.

Big Valley were led at the plate by Carter Walker (2-for-4 2RBIs, run) and Calvin Napikoski (2-for-3, RBI,run).

Walker and Easton Trutt both led in the RBIs with two each.

Bellefonte had two batters both finish with two hits. They were; Oliver Lucas (2-for-3,2RBIs,run) and Owen Fultz (2-for-2,run, RBI).

Picking up the win in the thriller was Chase Yoder.

Trailing 5-2 going into the fifth, Big Valley’s bats started to heat up.

Napikoski started the inning roping one back the middle.

Jake Savitts followed with a walk.

After two stolen bases, Liam Bender scored Napikoski as he also roped a shot in centerfield.

Izik Tate hustled out an infield hit, loading the bases.

Walker posted his second hit of the game, blasting a shot into right field. He scored Savitts on the play, cutting the Bellefonte lead to 5-4

With two outs, Trutt also hustled out an RBI infield single, tying the game at five.

Hartsock put his team ahead 7-5 blasting a 2RBI single into center.

Batting around, Napikoski singled in Trutt, sending the game into the bottom of the inning, leading 8-5.

Bellefonte cut into the lead in the inning.

But the Big Valley defense would keep the damage to a minimum.

Oliver St. Amant led things off with a walk.

Teammate Lucas plastered a double but Savitts took the ball and launched a picture perfect strike to gun down St. Amant.

Kobie Urbanik brought in Lucas as he sizzled a shot down first base line for a triple, cutting the score to 8-7.

Big Valley added an insurance run in the sixth to make it a 9-7 contest.

Yoder and company took care of the rest in the sixth to take home the come-from-behind win.

Big Valley posted the first run of the game.

Aiden Goss walked to get the inning going.

Tate was hit by a pitch, putting runners on first and second.

Walker loaded the bases with a walk.

Trutt took one for the team as he was hit by a pitch, scoring Goss and collecting the RBI.

Bellefonte battled back in the bottom of the inning.

Jackson VonGunden reached on a Big Valley miscue. He later scored on a Tre Tarza RBI fielders choice.

With the score tied going into the third, Bellefonte added two runs.

In the top of fourth, Big Valley battled back to cut it to one.

But in the bottom of the fourth, the Red Raiders exploded for a 3-run inning, taking the lead at 5-2.

With the win, Big Valley will play next Wednesday in the championship game with a team to be announced later.
