Big Valley 10u bats tops Nittany Valley in all-star opener

BELLEVILLE- Big Valley 10u All-Stars hosted Nittany Valley Tuesday in their opening round contest against Nittany Valley. The contest was held in Belleville.
Jake Savitts led the offensive punch for the Big Valley squad posting four hits and six RBIs on two triples and two singles.
Picking up the win was hurler Liam Bender. Bender went 3 2/3 innings. Teammate Matthew Hartsock came in an held Nittany Valley as the team picked up the 14-3 victory.
Big Valley lost the coin toss and was the visitors in the contest.
After a scoreless first inning, Big Valley rallied for two runs in the second.
Calvin Napikoski reached on a Nittany Valley miscue. His time on base was a short one as he scored on a stand up triple by Jake Savitts.
Savitts later scored on a RBI sacrifice fly by Owen Fultz.
Defensively, Big Valley held tough holding Nittany Valley with just a runner on third. Jameson Kyle reached on an error.
Big Valley brought out the bats again in the third, adding three more runs.
Matthew Hartsock got the inning off and running with a lead off single that ricochet off the pitcher and shortstop.
Bender put down a picture perfect sacrifice bunt. Hartsock stole second.
Chase Yoder brought in Hartsock on a single to center.
Napikoski took one for the team as he was plunked by a Nittany Valley offering.
Savitts came up huge once again blasting his second 2RBI triple of the evening, upping the lead to 5-0.
Nittany Valley put some runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth.
Jameson Kyle led things off with a high flying single into centerfield. He moved up to third and a smash to center by teammate Coleton Lose.
Lose later reached third via two stolen bases. He would score on a sacrifice bunt by Eli Snyder, cutting it to a 5-2 contest.
Maxwel Gibson walked and scored on an overthrow when trying to steal second.
When the two teams moved into the fifth, Nittany Valley marched its way back in the game trailing 5-3.
Fultz put the Big Valley team back up by three as he posted a 2-out RBI single scoring Napikoski.
Aiden Goss kept things going scoring Savitts on an RBI single.
Carter Walker brought two more of his teammates home in the inning, slapping a 2RBI single.
But the Red/White/Blue weren’t done yet.
Walker would score Big Valley’s last run of the inning via a triple by Izik Tate.
With Hartsock coming into his second inning of relief, Big Valley’s defense clamped down in the fifth, sending themselves into their final at bats with a seven-run advantage.
In their final at bats, Big Valley added some insurance posting a 4-run inning to clinch the win.
