Bringing home the hardware! Lady Indians win D6 title

Cool under pressure!

It was gut check time for the Juniata Indians softball team as they were looking to capture their first ever District 6 Championship as they went up against a tough Forest Hills team looking to spoil the Indians chances.

The game took eight innings before there would be a winner but it would be Juniata raising their hands in victory and adding a banner to the Indians walls of champions in the team’s gymnasium, winning 2-1.

Things were tied at one with the Indians batting in the bottom of the eighth when an error scored the one run that Juniata needed to end the contest.

Alexea Frontz tripled to start the bottom of the sixth. She scored on a miscue by Forest Hills.

Juniata phenom Elizabeth Gaisior shined once again striking 19 en route to the eighth inning victory.

Forest Hills pitcher Avery Smiach tallied 10 K’s in a losing effort

Trailing by one going into the sixth, the Indians mustered a run, tying the contest.

Frontz led off with a walk. Savannah Marshall took one for the team as she was hit by a pitch.

Both advanced on a passed ball.

S Armstrong bounced into a fielders choice allowing Frontz to score, knotting things at one.

Offensively, Regan Lowery led Juniata with two hits in four at bats.
