Bumgardner lifts game winning 3-run HR to left PV to victory

Penns Valley 6, Mifflinburg 3
SPRING MILLS – What a great start at home!
The Penns Vally girls softball team broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth when Freshman Taylor Bumgardner singled to plate Jozie Reed and put the Lady Rams up 4-3. The Lady Rams added two more runs in the inning to set the final at 6-3. Reed added a dramatic catch in left centerfield in the top of the 7th to secure the win.
Avelyn Van Heyst was 2-2 at the plate with 3 RBIs, including at 2-run HR, to lead PV at the plate. Kailen Winkelblech and Scottie Dinges each added two hits for the Lady Rams. Bumgardner paced PV in the circle as she struck out 12 and only rendered 5 hits in the complete game victory.
“The girls just kept battling. We got some timely hitting from the top of our lineup and the bottom came through in the bottom of the sixth. Taylor got tired in the sixth but she showed her toughness and we made some plays, said Penns Valley coach Terry Bumgardner. “She was pretty dominant the first 5 innings. This was just a great team win.”
