Burnham shuts out Derry Decatur in CKFCL Pee Wee Bowl weekend

LEWISTOWN – Off and running!

The Burnham Bulldogs Pee Wee football team had its running game going early and often, posting 27 points in the first half, taking their contest against a scrappy Derry Decatur team 39-0.

Burnham took the ball to start the contest and drove down the field on three runs by Liam Knepp who rushed for 29 yards total.

With the ball on the Derry Decatur 35, quarterback

Coen Bush finished off the drive, scoring from 35 yards out for the team’s first touchdown, making it 7-0.

The Bulldogs defense took over on the Cyclones first possession, forcing a fumble to get the ball back.

Luke Wise would take the first handoff from the Derry Decatur 40 and blazed his way to a first down on the four yard line.

Titan Cherry got the call on the next play and rambled in for the touchdown. However, the PAT was unsuccessful, making it 13-0.

Going into the second quarter, the Bulldogs found themselves back on the scoreboard thanks to a fourth down touchdown by Bush, increasing the lead to 19-0.

With one last possession before the half, it would be Rowan Platzer that would take it in from the one, ending the halftime scoring with a 26-0 advantage.

On the ground,Wise, Brayden Bedlyon, Liam Knepp and Bush all finished their day eclipsing 40-yards rushing on the balanced ground attack.

Derry Decatur was led by a 45-yard rushing effort by Ben Link.

Burnham added touchdowns by Platzer and Knepp en route to the victory.
