Over the weekend, the Mifflin County Boys Cross Country team finished 2nd out of 27 teams at the Mid Penn Conference Championship. Carter Smith wins gold. The Huskies JV team with strong showing in Tim Cook Memorial race.
Smith took the Mid Penn title with a first place time of 15:30.807.
Wyatt Kauffman finished in 11th place posting a final time of 16:12.372.
Reese Cubbison finished in 15th with a mark 16:23.507 while teammate Hoyt Rodenbaugh was right behind him posting a 16th place time of 16:23.737.
“Today was a really good showing for us. We moved up several places in the team rankings from last year which was our primary goal. We had tough days from two of our runners, but they never quit and knew team points were on the line,” said Mifflin County coach Alex Monroe. “If that’s an “off day” for them, then we are in a really good spot two weeks out from districts. We ended up putting 5 runners in the medals (top 35), and all 7 in the top 50. Wyatt Kauffman and Hart Oden showed up in a big way today, with both nearly PR’ing on a course that I believe runs 35-40 seconds slower than our home course.”
The Junior Varsity team also shined in their time on the course.
“On the JV side, we were phenomenal out there. They ran with a ton of confidence and grit on a very difficult course. We return to competition Thursday at home against Juniata and Williamsport.”
