By Kenny Varner

LEWISTOWN – You could feel the excitement in the air Wednesday night as Mifflin County High School played host to the battle of unbeatens as the Huskies wrestlers went up against legendary Mid-Penn foe Central Dauphin.

Highlighting the evening was 170-pound returning state champion Trey Kibe’s attempt of picking up career win 100. But he’d have to defeat Vickery Mahmoud to do it.

Mission accomplished as he disposed of his opponent by pin fall at the 1.28 mark. After going directly at Mahmoud after shaking his hands to start the match. He took him down with a roar of the crowd cheering him on and before one could blink it seemed that Kibe put his opponents shoulders to the mat to reach 100.

However despite the win, the Rams were just a little too much on the night as the Huskies went down fighting, falling 40-28.

Another Husky matman that made a statement against the Rams Wednesday was 160-pounder Trey Shoemaker as he pinned Ethan Pae in the second period after taking a 4-0 lead after one period. He kept the momentum in the second, picking up a takedown and back points to make it 9-0 before Shoemaker was able to pull out the pin at 3:17.

At 285 pounds MC’s Blaine Davis was all over Ben Stewart slamming him to the mats often and nearly pinning him before ending up the victor of a major decision, 15-3.

106-pounder Nicholas Allison put another six points on the board as he made quick work over Nathan posting a fall at 0:21.

Rounding out the Mifflin County winner on the night was 132-pounder Kyler Everly as he pinned Tyler Faust by Fall at 2:23. With an early grab of the leg, Everly was relentless from the very start picking up a first period take down in the first period.

In the second period, Everly went right back to work as he pulled the early pin.

The match was started at the 195-pound weight class and the Rams started out with the early victory.

Jackson Talbott controlled his match against Jacob Krepps notching a major decision, 13-2.

At 220, CD’s Marques Holton continued the stretch with a pin over Hadyn Crum at 1:04.

After Allison’s win at 106, the Rams got back on the winners side with a win at 113. Dallas Schorr took the easy forfeit victory.

One of the closest matches of the evening was at 120 when the Rams’ Matt  Repos outlasted Derek Burk to notch a 6-3 decision.

At 126, Central Dauphin picked up another win as Josh Miller picked up a 16-0 tech fall at 5:00 over Lucas Sheetz.

138-pounder Bryce  Buckman pinned Mifflin County’s Marshall Maidens at 1:25.
