Conrad “CJ” Coffey closed out his season Saturday afternoon racing at the PIAA State Championship. The Husky senior placed 216th in the AAA field. Hershey’s Parkview Course hosted six different races comprised of three classifications of schools, A, AA and AAA, with both boys and girls’ 5K events.   Coffey finished in 19:29.
“CJ missed qualifying for states last season and was driven to make it this year. He had a great fall of racing and had the chance to experience the state championship.”
We often believe we need to feel good in order to do well. In most instances one must pass thru the storm of uncertainty or pain before things get better. We may not be able to change how we feel but we can be determined what our effort will be.
“I challenged CJ that when the race was over and in the future, whether that was today, tomorrow or twenty years from now that he wouldn’t be able to say ‘ I could have raced faster.’”
“When I saw CJ finishing I knew he was hurting. His goal was simply to do his best.  Nothing more. Nothing less.  On this day he did his best.
Although this was not a good race for CJ,
I couldn’t be prouder of his season or his effort.”
