Cubbison finishes 7th; MIfflin County completes strong effort at Kutztown Invitational

A perfect day for a run!

The MIfflin County Cross Country team traveled to Kutztown to compete against the best-of-the-best of runners from the state of Pennsylvania.

Leading the team was Kylee Cubbison as finished seventh in the Kutztown Invitational Saturday with a 7th place mark of 19:30.10 to lead the Lady Huskies performances.

Teammate Addie Parson finished 50th win a finishing time of 21:46.60.

They competed in field that tallied 125 runners.

Other MC runners were Justice Sheaffer (25:45.20), Ava Wagner (PR 30:48.80) and Sarah Diehl 31:07.50).

“We came out today knowing there would be some fast girls and great competition in the race we were registered in,” said MIfflin County girls coach Neil Breneman. “The team was prepared that we had to get out to a fast start. Kylee got out and quickly worked her way up to the top girls. She is in good shape for this point in the season.”

On the boys side, MIfflin County got a strong effort from leading runner Chris Royer who finished with a 46th place time of 17:41.40.

Others finishing for the Huskies on the day were Caden Bell (18:11.10), Cody Fultz 18:33.90, Ben Hartzler (18:55.70), Luke Breneman (19:09.80), Maxwell Laudermilch (19:30.70) and Dominic Reed (20:32.10).


In JV action, Styers Oden finished 89th with a time of 21:30.10.

Other runners participating in the 271-field was Cameron Philpott (25:05.20).


The Huskies got strong finishes in the junior high division as teammates Hart Oden and Reese Cubbison finished 11th and12th with finishing times of 9:57.10 and 10:02.60, respectively.

“I thought the kids ran well today. We in the gold race which is the elite race. We faced a lot of medalist from across Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey,” said MIfflin County boys cross country coach Greg Loht. “The kids went out abd did what they could.  I thought they did well and we’re just looking for improvement.”
