Cubbison, Parson advance to take their talents to Hershey

Hershey bound!!!

Mifflin County cross country runners Kylie Cubbison and Addie Parson are on their way to Hershey to compete in the PIAA State Championships next Saturday on their legendary course.

They showed the rest of the state that they are the “best of best” in the state of Pennsylvania.

“It was a wet day for running with plenty of mud on the IVES course for the District 6 Championships. The rains we received made the conditions on the course a bit more challenging but the team put in a great effort and worked hard to accomplish significant goals,” said Mifflin County coach Neil Breneman. “Kylee and Addie both qualified for states, snatching the first two of five individual positions needed to qualify. State College was the winning team and for our girls to take 2 of the 5 positions left is really significant. They have both kept their eyes on the goal all throughout the season, particularly these past few weeks.”

Along with Cubbison’s performance, Parson was locked in and focused as well, despite early injury

“Addie looked really strong today. She faced some re-injury several weeks ago and we had to make the difficult decision to pull her from numerous races, including two big invitationals that she could have medaled in. Her health is more important and she has kept her focus on qualifying at this race today. In the end, the break from running was just what she needed to not only run great today, but to also position her for a good race at states in Hershey next week.”

Maggie Rodenbaugh, Sarah Diehl and Madisyn Steber each ran season bests today as well! They may not be crossing the finish line at the front of the race but their accomplishments show their dedication to continue working hard and not give up,” said Breneman. “This is why I love this sport! No matter where each of our athletes are, throughout the season they are actively engaged in the game, able to see their progress, and finish strong feeling good about what they were able to accomplish. I believe each of our athletes had a great experience this season and they can each feel good about their significant gains.”

Kylee and Addie will compete in the PIAA State Cross Country Championships in Hershey on Saturday, November 6.
