Cubbison PRs in 5K for Bowling Green, ranks sixth all-time in team history

AZUSA, Calif. / MUNCIE, Ind. –
The Bowling Green Falcons enjoyed a successful Friday (April 14) in California and Indiana, compiling outstanding performances at the We Fly Challenge and Bryan Clay Invitational. At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Kylee Cubbison had a 5K PR of 16:51.28, ranking her sixth in program history. Regina Rose earned a personal record and placed 19th of 100 runners in the ‘B’ 5K. Also recording a PR was Izzy Best, who competed in the 800 Invite. At the We Fly Challenge, hosted by Ball State, the Falcons saw event wins from MAC leaders Mateya Haintz (hammer throw) and Zaresha Neal (discus). Grace Bradtmueller backed Neal in the discus with a 10th-place finish, her first time competing in the event. Fellow freshman Bianca Staples placed third in the high jump and recorded her best mark of the outdoor season.

Falcon Facts
– Kylee Cubbison etched her name in the record book with a PR of 16:51.28 in the Bryan Clay Invite 5K. She now ranks sixth in program history in the event. The freshman also ranks sixth in school history in the indoor 3K.
– Mateya Haintz won the hammer throw with a mark of 188-7.00 (57.48m), her second-best of the season. She has won the hammer at three of the four meets this season, with the exception being a runner-up finish at the Tennessee Invite.
– Bianca Staples had an outdoor-best mark of 5-4.50 (1.64m) in the high jump, giving her a third-place finish. This is also the top high jump mark of the outdoor season for the Orange and Brown.
– Regina Rose raced the 5K at the Bryan Clay Invite, recording a PR of 17:23.77, over 17 seconds better than her previous PR. She placed 19th of 100 runners in the ‘B’ 5K.
– Izzy Best also had a PR in California, finishing the 800 in 2:13.49.
– Zaresha Neal notched her fifth event win of the outdoor season, placing first in the discus for the third time. Her mark of 166-5.00 (50.72m) is her second-best of 2023 and is the 21st-best in program history. She now holds 16 of the top 25 discus marks in BGSU history.
– Grace Bradtmueller made her collegiate debut in the discus, placing 10th with a mark of 125-8.00(38.30m).
– The Falcons also participated in the Tiffin Track Festival, racing the men’s 1500 and 5K. Heriberto Alvarez highlighted the evening with a fourth-place finish in the 5K Championship, running a PR of 15:01.49.
– Also running the 5K were Hunter Sidle (15:40.41) and Josh Risko (15:42.63), who each recorded a PR.
