Cubbison sets Course record in Altoona; MC XC teams split meet
Saturday another record was set in cross country action.
MIfflin County’s Kylee Cubbison set a course record at Altoona as the Huskies girls topped the Mountain Lions 27-29 and the boys lost a 28-29 heartbreaker in Saturday action.
In the boys’ race, Brayden Harris was the big winner as he posted a first place finish time of 15:59.
Teammate Chris Royer finished right behind Harris with a second place time of 17:26.
Rounding out the top five for MIfflin County was CJ Coffey finishing with a 17:53.
“The boys ran well today. There were a lot of PRs and near PRs today. Unfortunately, we came out a bit short in a 28-29 heartbreaker,” said MIfflin County coach Greg Loht. “All the boys ran well. It was a total team effort. On paper, Altoona was going to kill us today and the boys responded.”
Cubbison took to the very difficult course and thrived finishing with a new course record and junior record of 19:31.
Addie Parson was a solid second as she finished her day with a time of 20:43.
Finishing in fifth place was Ava Harris rounding out the top five with a time of 22:56.
“Kylee Cubbison set the course record today breaking the time of 19:47. The girls ran well,” said MIfflin County coach Jennifer Freed. “Usually when we compete against Altoona in a dual meet we run flat and Altoona usually pulls it out but today they were ready to pull it out. They were ready to run.”
