Defense is the word of the day for Juniata boys; allows Newport only 19 points
Defense took center stage Tuesday night in a Tri-Valley boys basketball match up between Juniata and Newport.
If one would see a 28-point final score for a team most would think the team took a loss.
However, the Indians came out the victors as they topped the Buffaloes 28-19.
Leading the offense for the Indians was Emmanuel O’Donnell who posted a game-High 15-point effort.
Jacob Condo was next on the scoring list with five.
Newport was led by Phil Washington’s 9-point effort while teammate Elijah York posted seven.
The game started out as a tie as the first quarter came to a close. Both teams posted six in the period.
Newport took a slight advantage after the second stanza finished, outscoring the Indians 5-4.
Going into the half, the Buffaloes held a very slim 11-10 advantage.
But that would all change in the third quarter when Juniata doubled-up Newport 10-5.
The Indians took home the victory as they posted an 8-3 advantage to end the game with a hard fought victory.
