Defensive shut down; East Juniata holds off Penns Valley

COCOLAMUS – Defense took center stage Wednesday night as the East Juniata boys basketball team hosted Penns Valley.

In a low scoring contest, the Tigers were able to muscle out a tough 31-26 contest.

Leading the way offensively for East Juniata was Jake Brackbill who finished with a game-high 11 points. Teammate Owen Dressler followed up with a 7-point effort.

Rounding out the top three scorers for the Tigers was Dylan Wagner.

Penns Valley was led by Jackson Romig’s nine points.

Colin Niewinski followed with six.

In the first quarter, the game was a back-and-forth battle of 9-8 in the favor of East Juniata.

Penns Valley took the advantage going into the intermission posting a 5-2 advantage. With the second period output, the Rams led 13-10.

However, the second quarter belonged to EJ as they were able to clamp down even more in the second, outscoring Penns Valley 20-13 en route to securing the victory.
