Despite strong first half effort, MC girls fall to Altoona

The Altoona girls soccer team went up against a fiesty group from MIfflin County.

However, in the end the Lady Huskies fell to Altoona 4-2.

Altoona’s Morgan Sarver hit the first goal of the game at 14:46.

Mifflin County tied the game when Aubrey Strohecker got open and blasted a goal at 29:14.

Sarver put her team back on top with her second goal at 38:01.

In true workmanlike fashion Strohecker knotted the game once again at 39:50.

Both team’s went into the half tied at two.

But the second half belonged to the Mountain Lions as Darrian Berkheimer and Sarver hit goals at  52:30 and 75:58, respectively.

Altoona outshot MIfflin County 18-9.

The Mountain Lions also held the advantage in corners by a 7-4 margin.

MIfflin County goalie Bailey McNitt captured 14 saves.

Altoona’s Julia Lane finished with seven saves.

Mifflin County falls to 2-4 in Mid-Penn action and 2-6 overall.

In JV action, Altoona topped MC 3-0.
