Dom’s Predictions/Friday Night Lights Preview Week 5

The Mifflin County Huskies 2-2 will hit the road Friday September 19 to take on a team they lost to a year ago the Shippensburg Greyhounds  who lost two games a year ago but handed Mifflin County a loss in week 5 at Mitchell Field 42-13. Shippensburg is off to another good start winning three straight games after falling to Big Springs 23-20 at home in the teams season opener. The Greyhounds hold a 3-1 record entering week five’s matchup against the Huskies who come in stumbling, losing two straight.

Mifflin County was punished by the Cameron Sweeney affect a week ago both through the air and on the ground as the Huskies allowed 377 total yards and allowed 204 in the run game. They also allowed Hershey to put up 173 yards through the air which resulted in a few really big chunk plays against a Huskies defense that was really solid in the first two games but has crumbled since.

Shippensburg is coming off a less than impressive win only beating Palmyra 13-12. The Cougars have been reeling this season as they sit winless but in the game of football you will take a win when you can get one.

Mifflin County has players that can perform and help their cause on pulling off the upset over the Greyhounds. Lucas Hartung has three touchdowns this season, two were receiving touchdowns on 116 yards so far. The other touchdown came on a 26-yard rushing touchdown in their home opener against Central Mountain. He has been a staple on this team in the recent weeks despite the teams two losses.

Mifflin County will hope to get the running game back; it was non-existent last week as a team they were negative 17 yards.

The Greyhounds bring veteran experience at the quarterback position; they have two quarterbacks listed. They are both seniors. The team likes to use Braiden Carroll the most so look for Carroll to be a factor in the passing game. Brady Maciejewski is used in the receiving game if needed. You might see him in some packages. Shippensburg’s key player on offense is Mark Carothers he has four total touchdowns he averages 105.5 yards a game rushing.

Mifflin County has been pretty good against the run despite allowing 204 yards against Hershey last week. Adan Daubert,Jarren Kenny,Corbin Yorder are the key factors on stopping the run game they have been outstanding this season.

Prediction  Huskies vs Greyhounds

Mifflin County has struggled coming into this game; they have lost two straight but they should feel like they have a chance against a Shippensburg team that has had a hard time putting teams away this year. So they would probably tell you they would want to be playing better ball. We look to who has had the better run game, it has been the Greyhounds. I expect that to play a factor in this game. The Huskies defensive line will be tested. We will see if they live up to the test. Expect the Huskies to put up points against a young defense. The safer pick here is Shippensburg mostly in part of their rushing attack.

Shippensburg 28-21
