Eagles 14Us finish season with second place finish

The 14U Mifflin County Eagles capped off their summer schedule with a 2nd place finish at the Rust Belt Rumble Tournament in Sandusky, Ohio.

On Saturday, the boys beat Michigan Prime by a score of 9-2. Calin McKnight was the starting pitcher and got the winning after striking out 6 in 2 plus innings of work. Logan Alexander and Grady Hoppel pitched for the Eagles out of the bull pen. McKnight and Evan Strohecker had multiple hits, Strohecker had a 2 RBI double.

Later on Saturday the boys beat Diamondbacks Elite Baseball from the Detroit area by a score of 3-1. Grady Hoppel was the starting pitcher and went 2 plus innings, striking out 3. Clay Ammon pitched the last 5 innings and secured the win. Ammon struck out 3. Hayden Yoder hit a sacrifice fly in the 4th inning scoring Calin McKnight to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Ammon singled in the 5th which drove in Owen Atherton who singled earlier in the inning. Calin McKnight scored on a wild pitch in the 6th giving the Eagles their 3rd run. Logan Alexander also had a single in the game.

The Eagles earned the #1 seed entering bracket play on Sunday. They had a rematch with Diamondbacks Elite Baseball. Aidan Arnold got the start on the mound. He scattered 8 hits over 6 2/3 innings striking out 4. Logan Alexander earned the victory by getting the last out in the top of the 7th. The Eagles trailed 4-2 entering the bottom of the 7th. Calin McKnight doubled with two outs and stole 3rd. Hayden Yoder followed with a walk and stole 2nd. Braden Peachey delivered a game tying single to left field and made his way to third after the Diamondbacks catcher was arguing a call after missing the tag on Yoder at home. Brett Zook delivered the walk-off single to left field scoring Peachey to put the Eagles in the championship game. McKnight finished with 3 hits in the game, one was a double. Alexander added 2 hits of his own.

The finals put MC up against the Rochester Cougars from New York. Logan Alexander got the start on the mound. He pitched 5 innings. Madden Weaver enter in relief to pitch the last 2 innings. The Cougars scored 1 run in the 5th, 2 runs in the 6th, and 2 runs in the 7th to beat Mifflin County 5-3. Calin McKnight and Clay Ammon had 2 hits each, both had a double. Braden Peachey, Brett Zook, and Aidan Arnold each had singles in the game.
