Early Action: Mother Nature forces MC13s to 3-day contest in semis

MILROY – It was a game that Mother Nature didn’t seem to want to end.

The Mifflin County 13-year old Babe Ruth All-Stars finished a 3-day rain delayed contest Thursday to defeat Franklin Township 13-1.

On Tuesday, Mifflin County pounded out 11 early hits en route to the 13-0 two-inning start.

After a scoreless first inning, the “Boys in Blue” exploded with 10 runs before a downpour washed away for the night with Mifflin County still at bat.

Ryan Kanagy started the inning for MC with a single to center. He advanced to second on a wild pitch.

Landon Eichhorn hit a chopper to move Kanagy to third.

Tucker Gill scored both teammates on a blast to left field.

Hunter Bailey kept things moving right along, posting a single of his own.

Deakon Schaeffer loaded the bases with a walk.

Caden Wolfley, who picked up the victory on the mound, walked in Gill, upping it to 3-0.

Xavier Smith, who went 2-for-3, plastered a 2-run single.

Still with one out, Trevor Sheaffer walked.

Kanagy brought everyone in as he tripled and scored, making it 9-0.

Eichhorn reached on an error.

Before the game got suspended, Eichhorn scored making it 10-0.

Then the rains came, halting it until Wednesday.

Wednesday, Mifflin County added three more runs as Tye Plank, who had an RBI single, scored as did Bailey and Gill as a total of 17 batters made it to the plate to bat.

The game got to the top of the fourth before once again, Mother Nature brought her wrath two separate times to push it to a Thursday Morning game.

In the remainder of the game, Mifflin County held strong allowing just one Franklin County run en route to earning a trip to the Babe Ruth State Championship Final.

In the other contest, Centre County held off West End for the 5-4 victory.
