East Juniata boys fall in season opening home contest

The East Juniata boys basketball team fell in its season home opener to a tough Muncy team 61-42.

Offensively, the Tigers were led by Wrett Smith’s 16-point effort while teammate Eric Nipple finished with 11 in a spirited effort.

Muncy was led by Stiles Eyer who finished with a team-high 12 points.

Teammates Kohen Meyer and Ken Hampe both tallied 10 in the contest.

Muncy took the lead after the first half 14-10.

They continued to add to their early lead in the second as Muncy held a 28-22 lead going into the intermission.

Muncy extended its lead to 49-32 going into the final stanza as they outscored the Tigers 21-10.

The lead was just too much for East Juniata to rally back from as they fall to 0-1 on the season.
